Opening words by mayor Dieter Hofmann
Welcome…
…to your virtual excursion through Rutesheim and Perouse. You will find many interesting facts about its history, culture and the economic situation and about the large number of public institutions in our modern community.
Rutesheim is well located in the heart of the Stuttgart region right at the motorway A8 from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe. We are only a few minutes away from the regional capital Stuttgart, the airport and the neighbouring towns Leonberg, Ditzingen, Böblingen and Sindelfingen. Due to our regional train station ( S-Bahn) Rutesheim is also easily accessible by public transport. With the motorway extension in 2006 Rutesheim will get its own motorway exit and the north-by-pass will lead to an urgent traffic reduction in Rutesheim.
8.900 of the altogether 10.150 inhabitants live in Rutesheim itself and about 1.250 in the adjacent community of Perouse. Rutesheim has developed to a modern community and provides infrastructural facilities not only for its own population but also for many towns that are located around us. Apart from a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities, Rutesheim is the home of many clubs and associations. There are also all kinds of educational institutions for our young generation such as five schools (elementary-, secondary school, junior high, grammar school, a school for handicapped children) and eight kindergartens. Ideal requirements for school- and club sports are guaranteed as we have two big and various smaller gymnasiums, a well-equipped sports center as well as numerous club-owned facilities.
The protestant Johannes Church and the restored and newly designed town-centre with cafés, restaurants, hotel and shops, pedestrian areas, low-traffic streets and squares are worth seeing. In Perouse you should visit the Waldenser Church with Henri-Arnaud-Monument and the recently restored historic buildings “Old Town Hall and Zehntscheuer Perouse”.
50 active local associations and the church communities contribute to a diverse sporting and cultural life and organize various public events. In Rutesheim it is a tradition not only to work together, but also to have fun together. For example there is the “Fleckenfest” in June and the “Straßenfest” at the end of August in Rutesheim. In Perouse the “Straßenfest” takes place in July and the “Sauerkrautfest” at the beginning of October.
Rutesheim is a nice place to live and to work. I would like to invite you to discover the special features of Rutesheim. I look forward to seeing you.
Sincerely yours,
Dieter Hofmann
Mayor
